The weather couldn't have been better for a trip along the river.

The annual market Deeping raft race was a huge success, as always and for the first time, it was covered by drone for the press.

Lincolnshire Drones flew the Mavic over the start line on the river as the teams battled it out to be the first over the finish line at the other end of the town.

"From a drone perspective, it was a difficult job to cover due to the number of people and the lack of suitable take off areas", said Lincolnshire Drones.

The annual event is known all over the UK and draws huge crowds.

Crowds stretched the full length of the river

In the end, the only suitable take off area was from the local pub car park, with the kind permission of the landlord. Two air observers were put in place and it was just possible to keep the drone within line of sight at all times, an important safety requirement.
